Can we use the Standardized Field Sobriety Test for detecting drug impaired driving without alcohol? Defense attorneys may try to argue that SFSTs were only validated for alcohol but Trooper Hutton breaks down the 3 phases of stopping a car, the NHTSA DWI Detection Manual and the DRE program to show that divided attention tests can properly assess impairment for many substances. Commonly cited research studies as well as validation studies are also discussed.
