This course explores the research surrounding domestic violence dynamics to help us better understand how to connect with victims and prosecute domestic violence cases.  The course will focus on research surrounding why victims stay in abusive relationships, recants, whether steps can be taken to increase victim involvement in prosecution, and the role that empathy plays in domestic violence prosecutions. The course will end with considerations to take into account when crafting sentences in domestic violence cases.
