Victim-centered efforts to end intimate partner violence and abuse requires understanding those who perpetrate and cause harm. Since 2000, the DVOMB has set Standards and Guidelines for the evaluation, assessment, treatment and behavioral monitoring of individuals convicted of domestic violence. This presentation will identify and address key considerations prosecutors need to be aware of as part of sentencing that impact the process of treatment under the DVOMB Standards and Guidelines. This training will also provide a general overview of Colorado’s innovative and evidence-informed approach to integrating the Risk, Need, Responsivity principles into treatment that sets the foundation for effective programming with domestic violence offenders. This training will also highlight important risk factors related to recidivism for future abusive behavior and how prosecutors can utilize DVOMB Approved Providers in support of a coordinated community response.
